About Lu

Lu is a food stylist, recipe developer and tester; Bristol-born, now living in London.

Her career started worlds away from food. After studying International Development at Sussex university, Lu worked in press & PR roles for humanitarian organisations for 4 years.

Having always been passionate about cooking, travelling, and learning about different cultures (and how food is integral within them), it was a revelation when she stumbled upon food styling.

One day-long course and many conversations quizzing food stylists later, Lu decided to quit her full-time job to become a food stylist and recipe writer/tester. She still occasionally works as a PR consultant within the NGO sector.

Experience

Since changing careers in Spring 2023, Lu has assisted on commercial shoots for Wagamama, Ketel One, Guinness, Nandos & Subway. She frequently works on shoots for editorial publications including Tesco, Good Food, Ocado, Slimming World & Hello Fresh. And, has been lucky enough to assist on cookbooks for some of the best food names in the industry including Noor Murad, Charlie Bighams, Meera Sodha, Benjamina Ebuehi & Anna Jones.

Lu regularly recipe tests for Good Food, Waitrose Magazine & Scramble LDN.

As well as styling and testing, Lu has consulted for Waitrose Magazine as a Food Editor.

She spends her spare time experimenting and developing recipes, making the occasional celebration cake for weddings and birthdays.
